We couldn’t have a Holiday issue without some taste bud bursting ideas to satisfy your inner caveman.  Here are a few ideas and tricks that should keep your tongue satisfied

  • Try apple slices and cashew or almond butter.  The mixture of saturated fats and sweet apple make an intimate combination for your mouth.
  • Chocolate covered strawberries are another great option, but please buy organic.  Strawberries are a highly sprayed food.  If you want extra healthy, use a dark chocolate that is unsweetened
  • If your are going to bake decrease bad ingredients by using gluten free flour and replacing sugar content with stevia and sugar alcohols (xylitol and erythritol)

  • Make some kabobs for snacks.  Meat, veggies and cheese kabobs are a great snack.  Or for desert you can stick on your favorite fruits and even drizzle a little of that left over chocolate sauce on them.
  • Serve coffee with heavy whipping cream.  This helps curve carb cravings and provides some healthy fats with the coffee.  If you haven’t tried it, it’s a must for any cappuccino junkie.   Come over to the dark side all you low fat latte-aholics.  This taste better and is better for you.

This is some great ideas and makes me more conscious of what we put in our mouths on holidays. The kids will really like this because they have become more health conscious, too, and want good choices.
